On the 13th of September Eva and Connor said I do. It was a beautiful sunny day. Their gracious family members let them host the wedding at their beautiful house complete with vineyards, a wine cellar and two pristine lawns to hold the ceremony and reception and most importantly, room for a stage for the couple to play music with their band. It was such a treat to witness it all as their California wedding videographer.
Behind the scenes video of the day
The couple was so genuine and perfectly embodied the phrase “go with the flow”. I spent most of the morning talking to the guests and family members because they were just spending time soaking up the moment as it came. Their only priority with time was to start their band’s performance at 7:00pm. Yes, you heard that right, this couple was not only getting married but also providing the musical entertainment that night. Eva, the bride, was a gorgeous blond, especially gorgeous on this day due to make-up artist Genna Ellis Bridal, with a strong and steady voice and Connor was a guitarist who perfectly complemented Eva’s energy. Throughout the day he was always checking in on their adorable one year old son, James to make sure he was taken care of. Even in the middle of the ceremony. They had baby James in a stroller next to them and when he started to make faces James noticed and questioned whether they should hold him the rest of the ceremony so he could be more comfortable. It was that kind of nurturing and attuned quality that made it clear he was going to be a wonderful husband to Eva. They were both such a warm and grounded presence to be around.
The reception was lovely and the food was absolutely superb. Hands down the best tri tip I’ve had at a wedding by Anderson Family Catering and the music was incredible. I also enjoyed working with the photographers Sothear “Salt”, a senior photographer working in the industry for nearly 8 years and Jarron Williams from royal moments photography. They made the couple and guests at ease and made me laugh so much that day.
That night we heard the band Bitter elegance, Wedding Warriors, Studio M, Teri Murphy Duo and everything from the vocals to the electric guitar and saxophone were astonishing. All I wanted to do was dance, but alas I had duties. It was really important to Eva and Connor to capture the music so I caught it from three angles. One wide that captured the stage and people and the dance floor from a side view, one medium of the band from front view and with my third camera I ran around getting close-ups of the band-members and guests dancing. What a night!
